I was having a little trouble learning how to use this site but getting the hang of it gradually. I have been reading some of the messages and e-mailed a couple of people.Most of all, I have gotten encouragement from reading the messages and don't feel so alone now.
I had a "Lumpectomy" and node biopsy last friday. Aug 9. which was not as bad as I had thought it would be.
I went back to the surgeon yesterday and read the pathology report. The tumor itself was negative but one of the two nodes was positive.
I finally figured out how to add pictures to my page.
Would love to hear from anyone who cares to write.

    Hello Jayne, I went back to read your original post just now. You must tell me how your doctor explained the tumor was negative and yet 1 of 2 lymph nodes showed positive for cancer cells. Did they only remove 2 nodes? Most times, more nodes are removed. I had a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. I also had one positive node out of 13 removed. All this going into my third year, post surgery. What comes to mind is that the tumor removed was negative for hormone receptor analysis. Be sure to get copies of all your reports so that you can read and study them at home and look up any unknowns on your computer. Write back soon, I am interested and wish you a quick and easy recovery from your surgery. Love to you, Nancy

    Jayne, Nancy again, with egg on her face!!! I just read your web page and see that you are a nurse...You know more about this "C" than I do and you can certainly understand a pathlogy report. Forgive me for my advice but,please, still respond about my question. Nancy

    Hi, dear, I had trouble too at first, got totally confused and couldn't even find myself! What stage are you? It is good to get your path report yourself if you can. I had a lumpectomy and was also pleasantly surprised that it was not bad at all. I am 4 years out from treatment and doing just fine. I worked throughout my radiation and I am 67. The chemo, which I did not have, is a little harder, but much more doable than it used to be. Gentle hugs, Shirlann
