Just wondering if anyone has had an insect sting on their arm after removal of nodes. I was stung Thursday and put drawing ointment on it and it appeared to be OK Friday. Now it is getting red and puffy. Any info would be appreciated.....Thanks

Call your doctor, he will probably give you a prescription for an antibiotic. A week after my surgery I had a similar thing happen, spiked a fever, and my arm swelled to several times its size. My doctor gives me a prescription to have on hand, it always seems to always happen on a weekend. My doctors cautioned me about insect bites, scratches and fingernail care - watch the cuticle. Don't wait until Monday, try to call your doctor now. Good Luck - jmgemmill

Yes stings can infect and become a problem in the arm touched in lymphnode area. I heard that it is wise to start taking antihistamenes (?) a few days before going out in wilderness or areas where bites are a concern. Some of us a little more sensative than others. I have managed to avoid an infection by treating stings, scratches and bites as soon as detect them. Hope you get it looked at might ease your mind.

Thanks everyone for your advise. I am waiting for a return call from my Dr. now. Sometimes it just helps to hear from others and knowing they are there....

I'm a very accident prone person. I've had scratches, bruises and tons of mosquito bites on that arm. When I work really hard it swells a bit, but goes away. The worse thing is to carry groceries with your fingers real heavy. That ALWAYS makes my arm swell. Good luck. Let us know what happened. What kind of sting did you get exactly?
