Impotence/ 4 months after prostatectomy

You are not alone. The same happened to me. My desire remained intact, but I ejaculated urine, instead of semen. My wife is also understanding, and my attraction to her remains. I am afraid that Viagra won't help, for it improves erection, but does not change the contents of the ejaculated fluid.

I am 3 months out. I am 46. I am using the injections and things are going great. You can email me at JWaites@arminc.net with any questions. Injections are not painful and really controlled erections. I have not had the problem with urine after orgasism.

I'm new to this discussion having just had my radical prostatectomy three weeks ago (Nov 20). My catheter was removed 8 days ago and I am having problems (as expected) with incontinence. I am relatively dry overnight but pretty much lose control as I stand up or do anything at all strenuous. I understand from reading and from my doctor that total dryness might take several months or longer. I do the kegle exercises several times a day and as I feel the urge to urinate. How often have others done the exercise each day and what were the results? What has been the general experience from others? And I too, am curious as to the orgasm without erection. (I have urges at this point but am still impotent with no sign of an erection.) At what point did your doctor allow you to try Viagra? Thanks for any advise in advance and for sharing your experiences. I'm a little "down" at this point, even though I knew in advance what was in store for us. The good news was that the cancer was organ-contained and we thank heavens for that.

I was the same way and I feel confident within a few weeks you will be much better. Just hang in there. I felt if I could just get over the incontenence, I could take care of the rest later, and that't the way it has been. Viagra does not work for me, but maybe it will for you. My Uro gave me samples about 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.

About the orgasms without erections; I, too, was surprised when the Uro told me it was possible; aparently, the two are not completely connected. If the penis is stimulated, it is possible!

Again, don't be too far "down" and keep up the kegle exercises; things WILL get better, and just remember your cancer WAS organ-contained, and that's the big thing!

I want to thank you for your reply and your words of encouragement. I feel a heck of a lot better and a lot less down knowing that someone else was at this stage and that things got better for them...... and will for me, too. It's also good to be reminded of how lucky I am regarding the outcome of the total biopsy. I have my two-week checkup today so will have to see what the doctor will allow me to do and where we go from here.

I too, want to wish you success in overcoming your last hurdle. At this point I have desire and stirrings but no physical signs of erection. Can I assume from your comments that between the vacuum pump and Viagra that your relations are pretty much normal and that erections last long enough for mutual satisfaction? I'll will get more information today as to where we go in this area.

I have the same thing happening...urinate upon orgasm....I find that if I try to void completely just before beginning a session it lessens the urination..did it just today...had a half errection with climax...no urine..yeehaw! Now I am using 1/4 pill viagra 100 mg per day and on 7th day taking full 100 mg pill...have had two complete full erections. And yes it's entirely possible to have a climax when completely limp...I have done it several times....I really think much of sex is your mind...but thats just my own personal oppinion. I use my pump twice per day...or if not at least some form of stimulation/self or with partner to attempt to get blood into penis. I started taking the viagra the day I had my cath taken out...doc said get started immediately..the sooner the better. Bought the pump a week later. I am currently on day 24 post Da Vinci. Stats below.
