any nonsmall cell survivors

Today I was told that my chemo was not working,my ctscan was worse instead of better and they are going to use an experimental treatment.Any survivors from nonsmall cell lung cancer on line?need your advice on what medicine or combinations of medicines were used for your treatments.I'll appreciate anything to help me in this,Waiting for any advice,thankyou ..Pancho.

    Pancho, I understand your worry & fear. I can't give any advice, but can share my experience. I was diagnosed w/NSCLC in 1/2000. I first had Taxol & Carbo along with 33 sessions of radiation which was effective - the tumor shrank and all was peaceful for several months. In Nov.2000 there was growth & involvement of my mid-chest lymph nodes so I began Taxotere & Gemzar. This chemo wiped out my white blood cells so we quickly moved to another series of radiation. Again, all clear from 5/2001 til 5/2002!! My latest CatScan & PET Scan shows activity again so I am beginning chemo (Navelbine) on the 17th. As I write this - it sounds pretty scary.. but I've been fortunate to continue to work and live well through it all. The ride has been bumpy at times but I'm still on track. Please know that the same great things can happen for you! Each day brings more advancements and options for treatment. Please continue to post so we know how you're doing. Take care, --Julieann

    Thankyou Julieann,Now I've got something to feel positive about,the way I took it there was not other treatments for me,I was wrong I can see that now,so yea I'll keep in touch and let you know how it goes,thanks again I really appreciate your words. later..Pancho

    Hang in there Pancho and know theres always hope.I am a 10 year survivor of lung cancer. My left lung was removed in 1992, and i received radiation treatments afterward.I refused chemo but dont encourage the same for you.Everyone must make their own decisions.In 1994 ,I had cancer in the lymph nodes in my neck.Again I had surgery and radiation but no chemo.So far ,so good!Ive done well since that time.Wish all the best for you. cooter1952
