I had a resection of the upper lobe of my left lung on 08/14/00 in which they found that I had small cell lung cancer. The doctor then removed the rest of the upper lobe of my left lung. I then had six months of chemo and through my last ct in Nov. am doing fine. My next CT is scheduled for June 2002. I know that there are not many to talk to about this disease because I found that to be so when I was undergoing treatment. If you have sclc and need someone to talk to I am here. You can email me and I will give you all of my contact info. I am here only by the Grace Of God and would like to help others in my situation. God Bless!

I WAS TOLD THAT THE LEFT PARACARDIUM HAS MICROSCOPIC MESOTHELIOMA (ASBESTOS CANCER)AND THEY DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHERE IT MAY HAVE TRACTED TO FROM THERE, IT COULD BE ALL THE WAY TO THE CHEST WALL. IN MOST OF THE INFORMATION I CAN FIND, IT STATES THAT MESOTHELIOMA IS ALMOST ALWAYS FATAL. I KNOW THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND CAN DO MIGHTY THINGS. I JUST WOULD LIKE SOME INFORMATION ON THE RECOVERY FROM THIS TYPE OF SURGERY AND WHAT TYPE OF SIGNS TO LOOK FOR IN THE FUTURE.

    Hi Richard,
I was diagnosed with SCLC in Jan. 2000. I underwent 6 rounds of chemo, 7 weeks or radiation, 12 days of rad. to the brain. In Dec. 2001 I began 7 more rounds of chemo and another 10 rad. treatments. I am also waiting for a CT scan next week. I would like to know if you were able to return to your job?

    Hello Cheryl,

Yes I retuned to my job on a limited basis six weeks after surgery. The recommended time was much longer but I couldn't stand to be at home by myself. I began by working about 2 hours a day and gradually worked my way back up to a full day. Of course my job consisted of mainly using a computer for the whole day.

My email address is friends@joys.net. This is an email address I established for my SCLC friends to write to.

my sister has small cell lung cancer , they are doing chemo and radiation first before they do surgery. My question is the chemo they gave her called cisplatin and gemzar. It is causing her to have problems with her white blood cell count did you have problems with the chemo you had.
