Hi, I just wanted to see how long it took to lose weight once you came off Tamoxifen. Has anyone recently finished and had a problem with weight? Thanks.

I just wanted to say I gained a pile of weight while I was on treatments. I found that being heavier seemed to be much easier than not having any fat to feast off when we aren't feeling well and eating well.
After treatments I quit smoking so that too added a few more pounds, aging a few more I must of gained a good 50 lbs after the first year of my dx. Many of us bloat up retain water and all of that. I am looking forward to getting in shape agian once I get over my last hurtle. That seems to be the only way I can keep the fat off is by being active. That I am not at this time. Hope you don't worry about this change in your body. In time you too will see it change and loose weight again.
    Be good to yourself,

I am on Tamoxifen for almost three months now and on March 21,2002 I made a decision to lose weight. I have read thoroughly Dr. Atkins diet and use the book as a constant reference. By April 21, I lost 15 lbs or 4" around the chest, 4" on my waist and 4" smaller on the thighs. I am eating salads and non-sweet vegetables and vary them. I have enjoyed meat, fish, poultry, eggs and have learned to make desserts within the parameters. My energy has improved and I am still losing inches. At least three times a week, I am walking 30 to 35 minutes. This is the induction part of the four part program. I have eliminated all sugar in all forms, grains that means all breads, cakes, crumbs, etc., and no fruit. I use splenda sugar substitute and Stevia (sometimes I mix the two which gives a better taste). The success is encouraging. The vegetarian diet and low-fat diets or lifestyles didn't work well for me and Atkins seems to. Hope this helps you. Iris
