Hi, I was just diagnosed 2/11/02 & after surgery was discovered I have extra ovarian primary peritoneal, a little more unusual but I'm finding others with the same diagnosis. I'm currently undergoing chemo (carboplatin/taxofere) and so far so good. My CA-125 has already dropped to 13.4! I'd love to hear more about your process went, how many treatments were underwent and how often you are being checked and how. That's all an unknown for me. Thanks for writing, I love to hear the positive stories! Sue10

Thanks for writing back, when I was diagnosed I was only 23 years old, it was hard to accept at first but I had a pretty good support system. I was between a stage II and a stage III. I received aggressive chemotherapy (three diff chemos). I had to be admitted to the hospital for one week out of every month for 5 months and I also recv'd treatment on Monday's as well as an outpatient. The reason I had to stay in the hospital while getting chemo was because I recv'd such a high dosage that I could not go home. It was rough at first, loosing my hair and staying sick all of the time. I also lost a lot of weight, but once I finished the chemo my dr. put me on an appetite enhancer and that helped me gain my weight back. At first I had follow up visits every 3 months then every 6 months and now I am at once a year. The first visits consisted of CT Scans and a vaginal exam. Now my visits consist of only the vaginal exam. I was wondering did you get a port a cath? I have one and it left a pretty bad scar, I was wondering if you had any ideas on covering it up? But hang in there it will be all over soon and pretty soon you can get back to leading a normal life.sue1 said:Hi, I was just diagnosed 2/11/02 & after surgery was discovered I have extra ovarian primary peritoneal, a little more unusual but I'm finding others with the same diagnosis. Krissy,
Hi there. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. I am so very happy for you! What form of ovarian cancer did you have? From reading your story it sounds similar to mine. I would love to be in contact with you. I've been searching for people with the same experience for over a year now. I have three children right now and am hoping to conceive my fourth very soon. It is so uplifting to hear of your baby. God Bless!

Hi, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have not had a port put in. My veins were questionable, but the nurses felt they were workable. I just didn't want to go thru another surgery right now, even if it was a day surgery. Thanks for letting me know how your treatments went. I only pray that my recovery can be as successful as yours! Hi, I finished six months of chemo, 3 months ago. It is good to hear of survivors with this disease. It gives me hope with an illness that creates a lot of anxiety. I haave had to get used to my body and know what an ache means. I also have a bad back so I have to be comfortable that what I am feeling is OK.
How did you feel after you finished treatment? Have you changed diet, exercise, vitamins or any other suggestions? I don't know if this is helpful to you. But just going online and knowing that there are survivors has been a great help.
Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi. I am wondering if you might share how you handled the immediate period (meaning the first 2 years) after treatment, which I was told was the critical point when most Ovarian cancers return. I am now 1 year post chemo and so far so good....but there is this deep fear inside of me tat seems to color all my choices -- my decisions...and try as I might, i can't shake it off....can't just LIVE. Can you offer me any advice?0
