Need advice

Hi my name is Carol.My mom had a right mastectomy 6 yrs ago.now she has a lump below her right clavicle,testing was ordered,bone scan,chest,abdominal and pelvic ct scans.i month ago,she goes to her oncologist every 6 months,and she had some elevation in her blood work.what are they looking for in the blood work?? she is not on ant chemo agent. thank you for any help

    Hi Carol,
    Say Hello to your mother. In the blood they are looking for tumor markers that show up in the blood system. With the scans and all they are looking for any areas where there might be a reoccurance of cancer. It sounds to me like they are giving your mother a close look at and that is good. I hope that her tests come back clean and she won't have to walk the path again. You are a good daughter to care so much for your mother. In this day and age and the way some families act it is good to see so many children looking for help for their parent. Your mother has done very well and I can see why with you by her side.
    Hope you will let us know how your mother makes our Carol.
