20 year survivor

Hello to all,
I was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma of the right knee in 1982. I was 19 years old. I'm currently celebrating my 20th year of life. I am an above the knee amputee. I'm married and have a wonderful understanding husband and two lovely healthy children. I am totally clear of cancer. I'm happy to say that I was never in remission. I endured one whole year of chemotherapty, which saved my life. It wasn't easy. During my many Chemo sessions I really felt that the chemo was much worse than having the cancer itself! But,I never lost faith, despite of all the many times I was in and out of the hospital due to the side effects of the drugs.

I'm not the most religous person, but I will say to anyone that has gone through anything similar, to "keep the faith". It got me through my good days and my bad days. No matter who or what you believe in.

I'm here for anyone who needs me!!!!

    Dear Linda: Thank you so much for sharing your story. My son, who is now 21 has had osteosarcoma twice. First in his arm when he was 13, then after being cancer-free for 5 1/2 yrs., it returned in his pelvis. He has been finished his treatments now for just a year and it is so uplifting to read stories like yours. Also, I agree with you, without our strong faith in God, I don't think any of us would have made it this far.

    I am too a cancer survivor having 2 battles with osteosarcoma. My right leg was amputated at the hip 11 years ago and I have not had any problems since.
