Dear M.R., I know you're scared. Have you talked to your doc about pot pills? There is a real name for them but I can't remember the name, anyway, you might want to ask about them. They're really good for giving people their appetite back. Does your dad not want to drink because his throat is swollen from the radiation treatments? I have small cell lung cancer and I am doing the aggressive radiation treatments as well. A good idea, even though it may seem simple, find out what makes your dad laugh and do it all of the time. Whether it's movies or stories or a pie in the face, get him laughing. Get some pretty spring flowers and put them in his room. Also, I just read that the amino acids lysine, proline, vitamin C, and Green tea help prevent mestatic cancer. My cancer is also in my lymph nodes. I have been taking MGN3, and mushroom supplements and green tea out the ying yang and already they say that my lung tumor has shrunk and the lump on my neck isn't there anymore. Please don't give up. This is a wicked disease but it doesn't have to win. I will pray for your father and for strength for you. I don't know how religious you are but it really helps to embrace your sorrows and have faith in God. Please keep me informed and know that I love you and will be praying for you. Cindy0

Where do you get the green tea you are talking about? They have removed the top part of my right lung and I'm very interested in prevented measures that others have tried and helps. I haven't seen an oncologist yet, but will be seeing one in 2 weeks.
thanks

I am so glad to hear you have had shrinkage. Thanks for all of your kind words. I told my mom about the amino acids. Dad is actually taking MGN 3 as well.
I think she had actually had him on the mushroom supplements too. Yeturday, he went on something to increase his appetite. I don't know the name of it. But she said he ate pretty good today. I hope you are doing better. Did I read that you have a little one? My heart really goes out to you. I loved your suggestion about prayer. My dad says all of his prayer (including prayer to St. Peregrine-Patron Saint of Cancer) and wears the medallion around his neck. This cancer is so much bigger than we. So you are so right in putting it all in gods hands.
I am thankful for being given the oppurtunity to reevaluate our lives and readjust priorities. We have been given a gift although sometimes it doesn't feel like it. How are you doing? How is your family adjusting to your diagnosis? Weren't you recently diagnosed?
I appreciate your taking the time to write bck to me. It means so much. Thank you and write me and let me know how you and your family are. I will add you to my prayer list too. Thanks again.

Go to a health food store. They should be able to set you up. Anything that boosts your immune system is good for the chemo. For radiation use marshmallow root, it helps in the prevention of flem. a couple of things you may want to look into , what I am taking is: Immunition, MGN 3, Vit C, a dietary supplement called Original Greens, Cell Forte (promotes killer cell activity), lysine, feverfew, and elderberry. The MGN 3 is really expensive but is worth every penny. a 3 day supply costs about 50.00 a bottle but that is only in the beginning. you cut down to 4 a day after 3 weeks. i am not trying to sell anything to you. I hate those kind of people but go to a health food store and get to know the people that work it. I'm not talking about a GNC, I'm talking about a health food store that is someone's livelihood. They care about you and about finding an alternative cure for you. What a great advertisement for them. In my experience, these businesses are better, more valuable. You may pay a little more but it's a better quality product than you'll ever get at GNC. Please keep me updated. Good luck! Cindyjudyr said:Cindy,

for the first time since my husband has been taking chemo he has become dehydrated and we didn't know until they try to take blood for his CT so they gave him water and now that I think of it he has been that way at lelast twice but it is not been that serious, but he also keep losing weight and the doctor has said that he will have to have a feeding tube if he can't gain the weight because they feel that the cancer is eating what he he does eat when he can.Just like you I'm afraid also because of the weight lost and he looks so small and because he has a mass on his lft buttocks it is hard for him to walk so he is weak just walking to the car or taking a bath.just keep praying for him and tell him not to give up.hope this helps you0
