Hello Karissa: I'm a 48 year old woman with brain cancer. I'm approaching my 3rd anniversary. I've been diagnosed with Oligo-Astrocytoma, left-frontal. I've had 2 surgeries. You didn't say what type of "b.c." you have(?) Mine was a stage 3 at my first surgery. I'm here...Mary0

HEllo Karissa: I am a 24 year old woman with brain cancer as well. I was first diagnosed at age 19 with a oligo-astrocytoma mix, stage 3 like Mary. I had one surgery at 19. Unfortunately I have had a recurrence and am now going through chemo which hasn't been too bad so far. I am here as well for anyone....Jenmkjackson said:Hello Karissa: I'm a 48 year old woman with brain cancer. I'm approaching my 3rd anniversary. HI! I am a 27 year old woman, who had a central neurocytoma removed in July of 2000. I had terrible headaches, my husband finally got me to go to the doctor, five days later I was in surgery. Geesh. They said I would have fallen over dead in less than 30 days. My poor husband didn't know if I'd even survive the surgery. But here I am back in the Phd Biochemistry program! It has been a very long journey. The 'cracks' in my head are really hurting today, really the reason I found this web site today and wanted to talk to somebody. Write back! Mary0

I am happy to hear that you are doing so well. I had a glioblastoma removed in December, 1999. It was something I wasn't expecting at all and also found it at last possible minute. I wanted to ask you if you've had lingering side effects. I have balance problems as well as vision changes. How is it that you still have pain in your head? Gathira0 -

Glad to hear you have survived five years after being diagnosed with glioblastoma. This is heartning words for those of us who have had a relative recently diagnosed with the disease. Take care and hope everything continues to go well with you.gathira said:Hello Mary
