Hello, Just wanted to say to Hang in there !! I just completed chemo end of Sept. and I too thought how can I do this,,but I did,,I just told myself I had to do it for myself, children (5 of them) ,husband and family . I laid there thinking now I know why people opt not to do chemo, but I wanted to make sure that all the cancer cells were gone and I would do anything to make sure they are gone forever!!!!!!!! I was usually sick for a week after chemo then another week before anything tasted good again. Its amazing what it does to us..My doctor told me that I shouldn't have been as sick either but they tried all the naseau meds. and nothing helped,,it made it worse,,as a matter of fact I would just look at the bottles of meds. and would be sick..it was awful, and I also before chemo would be totally nasaua the minute I hit the onlcology floor..the smell was awful, although everyone told me they smelled nothing ...I would sick while getting chemo and my stomach would be totally turning then as soon as I reached home I was sick,,Its awful for anyone to go through, some go through it without getting sick I read, but I still say I would do it all over again to rid CANCER !!! Just hang in there tough and if you need to talk ,I'll be here along with all the other wonderful women here to listen and help you through..Best of luck to your husband also. You both will be in my prayers. God Bless !! Karin0

Many of us know the feeling, my companion was a migrain headache constantly there for months at a time. Karin I know what you mean about hitting the floor and the smell made my head pound worse.karbear said:Hello, Just wanted to say to Hang in there !! I can only remind you and your husband to really flood your system with water and if you can't eat drink your nutrition so important to have nutrition to fight this along the way. The hardest thing for sick people to do is eat. I was lucky I was a good forced eater.
One step at a time you two, the best anyone of us can do.
Be good to yourselves,
HUGS enough for Both of You,

Hi Grandma,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I was wondering how your first treatment had gone. I have a terrible time eating. Nothing tastes right and I feel sick all the time. I have been eating a lot of vegetable soup. I also seem to be able to eat Stouffers "Chicken ALA King". I have never been a big meat person and the "Chicken Ala King" is mainly rice with chicken white sauce and a few small pieces of chicken. I seem to be able to eat it. I hope things improve for you with the next treatment!
Love, hugs, and prayers,

That is a pity you were so sick, but your doc will try hard to make it easier for you. I got a terrible sore mouth and the doc offered to lower the dose, but I opted to be a little more prepared with mouth medications the next time rather than reduce the dose....but there are limits to what a person can handle! You and your husband are having a really rough time. I'm not the praying type, but know you are in my thoughts. Just take it one day at a time and you will get throught the chemo. Love Susan0

thanks Susan,Hubby will start radiation Mon. and chemo also, soon.Dr. gave him 18 mo. unless he gets it under control. We are hoping the chemo will do that for him. I was ready to drop my treatments to care for him, but the Dr. talked me out of it for now. If they reduced the dose, would you have had to take them longer? Hi Grandma,
I know it is tuff but you can do it. I will keep you and your hubby in my prayers. There were days when I had all I could do to get out of the recliner. I only got sick on the first treatment then they tried different meds. and it worked for me . I was just completely exhausted and I kept getting dehydrated so I had to have ivs all the time. Try and drink lots of water the more the better. My first 4 treatments I could not get water down so they told me any fluids the last 4 were the Taxol and I drank water all the time.Remember my prayers are with you and keep us posted.
God Bless

Hi, Karen, thanks for responding, I was so hoping someone could tell me honestly that the anti-nausea med will work. my next treatment is the 21st, am going to take nerve med, the day before and that day ,maybe that will help, Hubby starts radiation Mon. and maybe chemo along with it, his kind can be done, and Dr. said he shouldn't get sick either, ya right, i don't believe him anymore about that.karbear said:Hello, Just wanted to say to Hang in there !! Grandma! You should try drinking a high calorie drink like Ensure not a drink used for weightloss! There are many high calorie drinks out there with many different flavors. Drinking them cold isn't too bad and you can add ice cream to the too! Good luck to you and your husband! HUGS!! Cathygrandma said:HI Kat,thanks for the concern,Aren't you just sick of chicken? Glad to here you are drinking alot of water. The Taxol just made me really tired for quite a few days but never sick.Unfortunatley that is all I did was eat so I did gain weight, who can figure most people lose weight.Keep me posted and God Bless Debbie0 -
Hang in there Grandma (& Grandpa too). Keep telling your oncologist exactly what hurts, how long it has hurt, everything. The old saying "the squeeky wheel gets the grease" is true. If your feeling bad let them know until they provide something to make you feel better. I had my last chemo 2 weeks ago. Good luck!! BobsSherry0
