Looking for Esoph. Cancer Buddy
My husband's grandmother has been recently diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. She is waiting to start treatment and has to have a feeding tube inserted. She has recently hooked up to the internet, and I am trying to find an 'online cancer buddy' for her to talk to from time to time. Her husband died last year, and she is very much alone. I think she is mostly nervous about the feeding tube....anyone with a positive experience that is willing to help out? Thanks so much in advance!! - Laura

Hi. My name is Bruce and I am a esophageal cancer survivor. I had treatments in 1998 ending with surgery in Sept 98. I had my esophagus removed and my stomach made into a new esophagus. I had a feeding tube after surgery but did not use it. I was able to swallow prior to treatments but only small or slippery things. I have been talking to several persons on-line and would love to correspond with your grand mother-in-law. I am 55 years old, married for almost 30 years, have two grown sons, and live in California. Feel free to contact me or have her contact me directly. My e-mail is "triebold@telocity.com"

Did you find a buddy for your husband's grandmother? My mother - age 71 - has just learned that she has esophageal cancer - stage III. She is not too Internet literate but I did get her a computer and she would probably like to have a buddy. I would ask her first of course.0
