My brother has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma cancer. He is not in the United States. He is in very healthy condition overall and they can not find any tumor. He has cancer cells in his lung lining. The doctors are baffled, never seen anything like this before, don't know what to do. I am hoping someone else has had this experience and can direct me in some direction so I can help. I'm hoping that cancer research here in the United States has seen something like this and that there is hope.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, I am not sure if I can be of any help at all, but I am a survivor of a Carcinoid Tumor. When I was getting information on this type of tumor, I believe that there was mention of adenocarcinoma, which like carcinoid, is usually found in the lungs or gastrointestinal tract. I don't remember what the treatments were, but I located the information by searching under the catagory of rare cancers.

Hi - my name is Brenda. I would like to recommend you start at Memorial Sloan Kettering's site, and go from there. Adenocarcinoma is simply a general term for a cancer that starts in the glands. Since they found it in his lungs, are they sure it isn't male breast cancer? If Sloan doesn't give you the info you need, then there might be links listed that will help. The website is http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/44.cfm and it is very informative. Your brother may be able to get someone here in the US to consult with the doctors whereever he is! Who knows. May the Lord go with you and he as you face this trial.

Since this is from 8/30/2001, things have probably changed. It sound like Mesothelioma to me... has he been exposed to Asbestos?
