LUNG CANCER SPREAD TO THE LYMPH NODES

HI
I NEED TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS HOPE ONCE LUNG CANCER HAS SPREAD TO THE LYMPH NODES AND IF ANYONE KNOWS THE FOLLOW UP TREATMENTS. MY HUSBAND HAD 2/3 OF HIS RIGHT LUNG REMOVED 2 WEEKS AGO AND WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR HIM TO RECOVER FROM THE SURGERY BEFORE WE SEE THE ONCOLOGIST AGAIN. WE ARE VERY NERVOUS ABOUT GETTING RADIATION TO THE CHEST.

    Hi, sorry to hear about your husband. Do you know what kind of lung cancer he has? I was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer w/lymph node involvement, and two brain lesions. For my brain lesions I had a procedure called stereo tac tic done, and I also did chemo, and radiation for the spot on my lung. Things went great! I was in remission. Last January, they found two more lesions in my brain which they treated with stereo tac tic, and I have been in remission since. I didn't have much trouble with radiation. The last week of radiation, my troat started to hurt alittle, and it was getting hard to swollow, but as soon as you stop radiation that goes away. So, try not to worry (easier said than done). If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. It's a hard journey, but there can also be rewards if you look for them.

    My wife was meant to undergo a similar op but it didnt happen due to a rapid spread of cancer ,I just want you to know our thoughts and prayers are with you. dhopps@freemail.absa.co.za

    Sorry to hear about your husband, my boyfriend has NSCLC with Metastasis to the trachea (which involved (lymph nodes) and his brain. He has undergone radiation (whole brain, neck and lung) and chemo, the prognosis is excellent so far. I understand you are concerned about radiation it does effect everyone differently unfortunately for my B/F radiation was worse than chemo (making him very ill) but all in all it was worth the fight so far. I wish you and your family the best my thoughts are with you and I hope your husband does well.

    Just curious how things are going now. Stepdad has same condition as you pretty much except for he has only had two lesions on the brain and radiation to those. What is stereo tac tic? He just finished his whole head and spot radiation and is currently being weened off decadron. Any advice?
