Curly hair regrowth

I was just reading all the responses to Tracy's post about hair. I wonder if anyone has asked why our hair does sometimes grow back in curly for awhile. That will be on my question list for my Oncologist in 3 months. Nancy

    Hi Nancy,
    I am going to the oncologist tomorrow (thursday may 10) and i'll ask. i have a whole list, so what's one more question, huh?

    Hi Nancy,
    In my high school physiology class the explanation given to us was that tight hair follicles produce curly hair and loose or wide open follicles produce straight hair. I think because no hair grows during chemo treatment the follicles tighten up and get smaller. When the hair pushes out of the follicle it's similar to curling ribbon with the blade of a scissor. My hair grew back curly but after a few months went back to straight. I think the follicles relaxed themselves with the new hair growth and went back to my normal hair growth which was straight.
