Dry Mouth Relief

I'm new to this site but wanted to share with all of those who suffer with dry mouth as a result of radiation that there is a wonderful product (over-the-counter) called ORALBALANCE, by Biotene. They have a web site at www.laclede.com where you can get free samples of their products. Click on "click to enter" and then on the left side at the bottom of the list is "contact us/samples". The toothpaste and mouthwash do "burn" my mouth, but the ORALBALANCE is excellent. Begin a gel it sticks to the inside of the cheeks for a long period of time. The best part is that it lets me sleep for 3-4 hours before waking up with cotton mouth, I just drink a little water, put in some more gel and off to slumberland again. Does anyone else have any dry mouth remedies or suggestions?

    Hard candy has worked for me, And chocolot milk helps with the cotton mouth too!

    My mouth is extremely dry too after the 48 rounds of radiotherapy to my toncil cancer. I tried Oralbalance before but it didn't help at all. The feeling of applying this gel like substance was more aweful than leaving the mouth dry. I am still begging for suggestions.

    My mouth is extremely dry too after the 48 rounds of radiotherapy to my tonsil cancer. I tried Oralbalance before but it didn't help at all. The feeling of applying this gel like substance was more aweful than leaving the mouth dry. I am still begging for suggestions.

    It's now a year later -- have you found solutions to the dry mouth problem? I get enough nourishment by consuming moist things. My problem is not being able to sleep for more than about 2 hours without waking. Currently, I try naps so that I can get 8 hours of sleep in a day. I also use humidifiers, drink fluids, and continue to experiment with a host of things -- like oil in the mouth, acetylcholine agonists, and various other supposed dry mouth remedies.

    My mother had a surgery month ago, she will start radiation next week. I was researching ways to help with dry mouth. Did anybody tried acupuncture. There is a page on Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center about it:

    Hi, last Friday I mentioned AS Saliva Orthana, buy online from www.aspharma.co.uk They offer a spray and a Lozenge.

    One tip, Dont just spray the back of your mouth or onto your tongue as you will quickly swallow the product and the effect will be lost.

    Spray inside both of your cheeks, and under your tongue creating a reservoir in a similar action to your salivary glands. This will then coat your cheeks, palate, tonge and teeth offering longer and more effective comfort.

    Steve's been finding some success with XyloBurst (mints with xylitol) and a humdifier.

    You might want to start a new thread, as this was started in 2001, though there are some recent replies....

    There have been a few on here that have tried accupuncture if memory serves me. they will chime in soon.

    Also, I know a few that have tried Stoppers4 which you can get online only I believe.

    Again, welcome...many awesome people here.

    You won't get eight hours, but I've found that the Magic Mouthwash worked for me.
