Avon Breast Cancer 3-day

I look up to you for signing up to do the 3 day walk - that is a great thing. My daughter lives in Maryland and she is doing it in May again this year. She did it for the first time last May - it was quite a thing. The week-end she did this walk, was the week that I was diagnosed with the breast cancer - I would NOT call her to tell her about it till she finished her walk. She gets the majority of her money for companies that pledge the big money. She works in a Dr. office and a lot of the drug reps pledge also. Keep us posted how you do with your training for the walk and good luck. love, lucy0

Hi: Vinnie here, I didn't do a 3 day but last year after I was diag. I did "Making Strides" Me and a friend at work raised $1100.00 and we walked for a few hours. I really felt great about raising those funds. Felt like I really was contributing to a major cause. We went around to everyone at work and asked for a few dollars. Everyone was great and it added up quickly. Where are you doing this walk? What state?. Good luck to you, and keep us advised of your progress.0

I have not ever done a walk before. I think they have one in Dallas in October. I have thought about doing it. I really didn't know what I needed to do though. I just feel I need to be doing something to make a difference so our daughtera & granddaughters never have to go through this. I would be glad for the information. Good luck to you.

Hi--Karen here. I'm doing the walk in Southern California, walking from Santa Barbara to Malibu. Have started training already and raising some funds. Thanks for the encouragement!vinny said:Hi: Vinnie here, I didn't do a 3 day but last year after I was diag. Sounds like a very ambitious undertaking!! Best of luck to you. I think that these types of things are great---not only to raise money for research and local programs, but also to make more people aware of Breast Cancer. We don't have anything THAT ambitious here. In October, we will have our Third Annual ACS Relay for Life--a 24 Hour relay to raise money. I was a part of the first as it was in memory of my oldest daughter's boyfriend's mother who has died the year before. Last year, I had just had a baby, so couldn't participate. This year, you can bet that I will be there!!! My mom does the "Race for the Cure" in Cheyenne, WY in memory of my dad. Now she says she can walk with my name on her back!! Anyway, let us know how you are doing...hopefully you won't wear yourself out too much getting ready for this. Good luck!! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm in So. Calif. too. Our 4th Relay is 9/28 in Newbury Park. Where is yours? I've been on survivors committee and team captain. Last year we had over 150 survivors walk. I got my donations by sending out letters to friends and family. Was able to raise over $1000 for the last 2 years that way. Our Relay goal this year is $300k. Best of luck to everyone. Margaret0
