Husband's biopsy

My husband who is 52, will get his biopsy results today, and the pulmonologist is 99.9% certain it is malignant. Tumor is about 3.3 cm in size. Doesn't appear to be attached to chest wall, but there may be mets to liver, or it may be fatty cysts. Won't know until they do an ultrasound of the liver. He also wants to do a bone scan. Our world has been turned upside down, and I was so thankful to come across this site. Some of the messages have raised my spirits, and I want to be able to share with him when he is ready. I keep praying that the biopsy results will be better news than I am expecting, but working in the health field, I am currently having a very difficult time trying to be an optimist. Right now I am just trying to find something positive to hold onto. How do I openly communicate my fears and feelings and get him to open up as well, yet make it hopeful?

    HI PTMOM. I know the feelings you must be feeling. My dad was diagnosed with small cell carsinoma of the lung about 6 weeks ago. They did a biopsy and discovered the tumor to be about 2.8 cm. They did a liver scan and found several spots in his liver also. (he quit smoking about 18 years ago) He has gone through 2 rounds of chemo. (he takes chemo 3 days a week every 3 weeks) The first day is carboplatinum and v-16. The 2nd and 3rd day is V-16. {I hope I spelled everything correct) I'm new to this board and appreciate all of the positive feedback we get here. Some good news on this end. He had a x-ray this past Monday and the tumor did not even show up! So..I guess what I'm trying to say is..great things can happen. I know what you are going through.
