A/C chemotherapy

i have just had first chemo, A/C. no sickness at all and this is third day. but very shaky, trembly. has anyone else suffered that? i am really interested to meet someone else on this right now, to help me through the stages of feelings. and to know what helped. so plese could someone reply. thanks susan in canada

    Hi Susan, Nancy here. I think I have already told you how the A/C effects me. I have had 2 infusions and will get the 3rd on Nov.29th. I am fine the day of...next morning hurl once and queasy the rest of the day and evening. That lasts about 6/7 days for me. Yes I am very trembling inside. Some of this is the chemo and I think some of it is the anxiety. I use Ativan as it is supposed to deal with the anxiety as well as the nausea. I am so glad that you are not sick!!!!!     nancy, yes yu had told me abt your chemo, and sick once, but i got real scared by the shaking, so good to hear not unusual. i have had one infusion now. if the others no worse, it will not be too bad. but i am soooooo tired. only getting down to work occasionally. the docs still haven't decided when to do the mastectomy, before or after radiation. then i will have to consider whether i want reconstruction. i'm finding that is just too much to think about right now. please keep in touch. it is good to talk to people at roughly the same stage of treatment. this site is a lifesaver, but i just wish they would get rid of some of real old messages. so hard to scroll along so much. bye for now, susan

    Hi again Sue. I made it thru my 4 A/C treatments pretty well, considering what it does to some people. I got nauseated the first day (but never once vomited), then queasy for the rest of the week. I took Zofran and Decadron for nausea, which really did the trick for me. I also struggled with fatigue, especially that first week. However, I was able to keep working. I just made sure I took a nap as soon as I got home, and also tried to get to bed early. I also had a nasty, bitter taste in my mouth for a week. And no food tasted normal. A few times I got some sores in my mouth ( and one cycle my private area got a little sore-how embarassing!). Just think, after this week, you'll be 3/4 done with A/C! Do you have any more after that? I get Taxotere #2 on Monday the 27th. After my little stint in the hospital last time (due to neutropenia), I'm not real anxious to get it again. But my Dr. said he will cut my dose from now on. It's like John Wayne used to say--"A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do". (Something tells me there aren't too many men who've had to do this!) Keep in touch. Jackie

    I had my first treatment on 11/17 and have had very few problems other than a few sinus-type headaches. The biggest impact was the sleepiness from the anti-nausea medicine after. I have had taste changes, soreness in the mouth and tongue, and now a sore head with rapidly departing hair. I feel pretty fortunate not to have more. I have three more treatments, so we will see how they go. The oncology nurses have been a great help in hints for what to expect and how to minimize the effects. I'm psyching myself up for my next treatment on the 8th. Hope you're doing well. Keep your chin up -- it gives the doctors a better target!

    hi, you are three days ahead of me in treatment. i had Ac chemo Nov 17. so i will watch for my hair falling out in 3 days! my next is dec 11. we must compare notes. i too had dreadful sore mouth and burnt tongue,following four days of the shakes and feeling miserable, but not throwing up. my main problem is inability to stay asleep last week or so. i will fall asleep then wake 40 min later, get up for a while and repeat the performance ad infinitum. very exhausting. where are Yu? othe r than in bathroom admiring new head? susan
