Hello,  I am newly diagnosed with PRCC grade 3 after a partial Nephrectomy.  Im looking for some advice from others that have battled this fight.  My main concern is the fight it took to actually get to the point on finding this cancer.  My original complaint to doctors was my body was just off.  I was working out twice a day on top of my normal work load as a landscaper. Then one day I just couldn’t finish my workouts.  Then all the sudden it was a huge task just to get through the work day along with brain fog.  After 3 sets of CT scans pelvis to neck and obvious enlarged lymph nodes through out my body.  Lymph nodes were my original concern due to family history.  I noticed in the notes from the radiologist about the center changing in the spot on my kidney ( I was told it was nothing and normal) I then pushed to get an MRI.  MRI came back concerning but the spot was still only 1.4cm.  Recently (7 Days ago) I had a partial nephrectomy to remove that section.  Lab report came back as PRCC grade 3.  My concern is how should I go about ensuring it hasn’t spread to the lymph nodes or lungs.  Im told I have a 9 mm nodule within the anterior right lung apex. It looks unchanged from my scans back in May of 24.  I feel as if I have had to fight my way this entire time with these doctors.  At one point I was asked why I was even there.  Obviously I knew something wasn’t right with my body.  Looking for some advice on what I need to battle with now to ensure my own health.

HI. The grade 3 doesn't count for much, it's the stage that matters. And as tiny as yours appears to be at 1.4 cm, you probably don't have much to worry about. Mine was 7 CM and still stage 1, and a grade 4 due to it being an oddball mix of types. My nephrectomy was in 2018, and I haven't had any problems. It would be very highly unlikely to spread anywhere from the small tumor you have.

Agree with Alice! What was the stage? I guess stage 1 due to the size?

If it is stage 1, then it hasn’t metastasized. Most probably your enlarged lymphnodes and feeling off are due to smth else, because cancer of that size is very unlikely to cause such symptoms.

Hematuria - maybe, but fatigue, brain fog and enlarged lymphnodes - no way.

BTW, my husband was diagnosed with Hep C 2-3 weeks before small kidney cancer diagnosis. He had same symptoms as you - brain fog, fatgue. Ultrasound showed enlarged lymphnodes near liver, Noone thought that those symptoms are due to kidnye tumor - it was clear it is due to Hep C.

First of all, good that you kept pushing and discovered the tumor. It definitely have saved your life, and you’ll be fine kidnye cancer wise.

But if your strange symptoms persist - you should also look into other possible reasons unrelated to this small tumor.
