AMS800 Recommendation
Long story short - RALP 6 years ago. Big time incontinent since. Six (typically) Depends a day. I actually think the incontinence is getting worse and am reconsidering my aversion to an AUS. But, I'm worried about who, locally, could perform the surgery. I don't want someone who does a few a month. My urologist, that did the surgery, does not recommend the AUS, his practice is big on the Sling, but I've read so many horror stories about them I won't even entertain a Sling and Googling local Dr's who do the AUS is slim pickin'. Anyone out there with recommendations for surgeons that they would recommend in the Raleigh/Durham area of NC? Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you with recommendations, but please don't dismiss a sling.
I had an ATOMS sling fitted in Aug 2023 and it took me from losing an average of 200ml per day to around 10 - 20ml per day depending on activity. It is a much better solution than the old hat AdVance sling because it is adjustable post-op. It has an inflatable 'cushion' acting against your urethra which can be topped up with a solution to optimize continence. Mine is maxed out and although I still have a small amount of leakage, I am far better off than previously. I now wear a light liner or shield during the day for insurance instead of maxi pads, and nothing in bed at night. Happy days.

I've had an AUS800 implant for over a decade, and I'm quite happy with it. After surgery and a year+ of trying Kegals and other muscle building methods, I was diagnosed with 100% vertical incontinence, due to the prostate surgery to achieve negative margins, with little to no hope of improvement.
I cannot recommend a surgeon in your area, as I had my AUS800 implanted in the Northeast. I recommend that you contact the folks at Duke University Medical Center for a referral to a surgeon in your area who regularly performs AUS800 implants.
