Hi my husband has stage 3 esophagus cancer. He has been spitting up phlem for 3 months now and it is really bad just wondering if anyone else had this. His dr stretched his esophagus two weeks ago it didn't really do much for him. They are going to streach it again next Tuesday and maybe put in a stent. He is very depressed about all of this and we don't seem to be getting any answers. And we don't even know if it will be fixed

sorry to hear about your husband’s phlegm coughing. It’s 4 AM here in France and I just had an hour of the same. My operation was in July so nearly 4 months ago.

I blame the fact I fell asleep on my side and acid reflux crept up on me. You have an inclined bed for him right?

I have these coughing fits about once every two weeks now and they seem to gradually diminish.

All I can say is ‘Bon courage’ and sleep in an upright position on your back to reduce the chance of it happening.

    Hi,

Stage 3. Did they operate? Was it deemed inoperable? Did he ger radio?

I have stage 3. Not yet operated. Got radio Chemo. After radio, I got sctrictures (compression) in the esophagus that had to be dilated. These are common compliactions of radio therapy. They may need dilation every few months. But that has nothing to do with taking care of the cancer itself permanently.

you need to tell us more. type of cancer. operations done? radio / chemo (when). current treatment?

Hello, I am 48, diagnosed with Esophageal/ Stomach cancer in March of 2024. Went through radio and chemotherapy. Then had major surgery in August. I was then told I was “Cancer” Free and called a Survivor. I am currently doing immunotherapy and also getting esophagus dilations almost every 1-2 weeks. I am still battling every day.!

I am here if any specific questions and anyway u can help. Stay strong you both will get through!
