Feeling fortunate

I had been feeling extremely fatigued for the last year and my primary started doing lots of blood tests. Eventually it was noted that I had slightly elevated liver enzymes so a liver ultrasound was ordered. Turns out that mg liver was fine, but a large mass was seen on my right kidney. A CT scan the following week confirmed kidney cancer. Had the mass been on my left kidney I still would not know that I had this cancer, so I feel very fortunate that it was found accidentally.
My immediate reaction was “let’s get rid of this damn thing as soon as possible”
When I told my sister her first reaction was the sand as mine, “what the hell, our family goes f get cancer, we prefer heart attacks!”
True. I never in a million years seriously considered getting cancer. But my sister also talk me a quote and heard from Steven Fry who said “cancer was an unexpected adventure, but he was kinda excited when he was diagnosed because it was an adventure he’d known nothing about before.”

I feel the same way, just ready to get this thing out of my body. My surgery is in 11 days, Dec 17, and I admit I’m starting to get antsy waiting for it
