Correct! My doctor said acid reflux and after complaining 3 times they sent me to ENT. ENT said acid reflux too. Then I came back again to complain they finally sent me to do barium swallow test and scan. Then it takes a couple of weeks just to get an appointment for endoscopy. 6 months later I finally found out stage 3 EC. I wish I would've been more persistent in getting tested I could've caught it earlier.

Hello Lina, My husband, who is 37 years old, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. His mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31. Recently, my husband underwent genetic testing to determine if there is a cancer-related gene. Our geneticist mentioned that there is a connection between breast cancer and cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, including esophageal cancer. We are waiting for the results, which we expect in March

    I ll keep you updated.

    Anna.

To me. it was the hiatus hernia that was genetic and that led to the Barrett's and that led to the cancerous tumour which are both probably related via my life choices and genetics too
