8 weeks out from surgery

Had Robotic Prostatectomy 8 weeks ago. Desided on surgery as the best option for longevity. Im 63 years old and my cancer was both types one being more aggressive. Pet/Ct showed no cancer outside of the prostate. Biopsy after surgery confirmed clear margins and contained within prostate. PSA check showed 0.04 which doctors say is good. Symtoms are as follows:

Leakage of course, worse the last week because of over activity, erectial dysfunction which is not an issue, married 43 years and am happy to just still have a chance to live another 15 to 20 years with my family.

My worst symptom is urgency it is worse at night does any one else have this issue? Also tip of my penis seems to still be sore

    Hi,

    With your urgency and sore penis you could have a UTI which I think they can test with a urine sample. Eight weeks post surgery seems to be a little long for your tip soreness in my humble non medical opinion. With the removal of my cath. I was only sore for a day or two.

    By lying down, gravity is helping retain urine, so less urgency for me at night.

    sounds like you and me are the same boat same age same everything I’ve had a UTI for about six weeks now I’m going to have a cyst op osuy July 17. My penis was aching like crazy. I got major incontinence during the day.

    The typical symptom with UTI aside from frequency, is a burning or stinging sensation when voiding.

    I hope it isn't the case @rcapostman, but maybe the surgery caused some damage to your pudendal nerve? It would explain the pain at the tip. DYOR, but it would be interesting if you were also suffering some of the other symptoms associated with that.

    Great attitude regarding your ED too. It is refreshing to see someone thinking with their big head instead of their little one for once! 😉

    Thanks for all the comments! I have been checked for UTI and dont have one. They did mention that there may have been some nerve damage and that is what is causing my penis tip pain. It comes and goes worse at night or with over activity. This is also evident by numbness that comes and goes in my left thigh. It is tactile numbness and other then feeling funny and itchey it does not affect leg performance. I am working on the leakage with a Pelvic Floor Specialist, and I have to say she is fantastic.

    Hell, I am happy just to be able to live on for several more years no matter what the symptoms are you got to look at the long journey not just the short haul. I have been married for 43 years and have had the discussion with my wife many times and she is just happy for me to still be in her life.

    Steve I dont know if you have tried this but my therapy specialist has me on a clock during the day. Pee once every 2 hours on a timer maybe on your phone(thats how I do it) after peeing drink 6-8 ounces of water then start the 2 hour cycle again. This makes me less leaky during the day. I have stress incotance where I bend or get up and I squrit a little, still working that issue. Be patient, I try but I like to be outside working on something instead of sitting around.. Also not for just you but for everyone on here that needs them a company called Confitex USA has special underwere that are fantastic. They are expensive but they are regular underwere you can wash over and over. They are comfortable and do an excellent job. I bought 8 pair so far and dont use depends adult diapers at all. I just use the light or heavy pads as needed for back up. If you can afford it try one you will be amazed of the feeling of freedom you have with them.

    I had robotic surgery on May 16th at Cleveland Clinic a week after that I had the Cather out. So it's about 2 months and I have some incontinence problems. At night I'll get up probably 3 or 4 times I still wear a pad at night but leak just a little. During the day if I work around outside I leak a lot. I don't see getting rid of the pads for a while. I talked to a friend at the same surgery he said it took 2 to 3 months. There's Improvement but it's very very little I got my fingers crossed
