very high PSA after major peripheral artery disease surgery for legs

Hi,

I'm a 75 year old man. A week ago I had major surgery: A femoral endarterectomy  for PAD.

When I was discharged I was scheduled for my check up with my internist. I mistakenly asked for a PSA test. Since I'd been through so much I believe I should have waited. My PSA came out at 9.00.

But on the other hand, I had a lot going on, like a temporary catheter, etc.

I've been watching my PSA for years, with one biopsy in 2006, and another in 2015.

Since then my PSA has been okay. 3.5, 3.7.

My urologist sort of dismissed me about 9 years ago saying I didn't need to come back unless I had a problem.

I'm thinking I should wait a month to repeat the test to let things calm down. And do the free PSA also, I do have a just in case appointment with my urologist in late June.

I appreciate any suggestions.
