Hello - i had a 10 CM tumor removed in 2008 that was clear cell renal carcinoma, pathology put as grade 1. In 2021 i had a recurrence in my right solitary kidney of 2 tumors that were noted as grade 3. I have been doing my followup scans with NED but a recent CT for a pain i was having now shows a 6.5mm nodule in my lung as well as "few" other small nodules 2/3 mm in size. I am seeing pulmonary tomorrow but wondering if i should ask for biopsy or PET scan? Does anyone have advice in this space?

Are you undergoing treatment, ie, chemotherapy, immunotherapy?

    Hi Kelse002, I have a couple questions:

How big were the 2 grade 3 tumors? And were you doing follow-up scan between 2008 and 2021?

And did they ever scan your lung or your chest area at the beginning (or during these years) to disregard spread?

I truly wish you the best. :)

    Hello,

Definitely a biopsy of the biggest nodule.

While lung nodules are rather common, taking into account your situation recurrence is possible. If this is the case, you should start treatment right away

just to add, I agree with what they said.

There is no shame in advocating for yourself. I pushed back on oncologist that didn’t want to do a PET. Turns out my nodule was cancerous.

2nd opinions are your friend as well.
