Hi all!  Who started out with Atypical Glandular Cells Undifferentiated on Pap Smear?  I'm trying to find literature about this and what this means!?  My GYN did not explain.

    This is from the NationalCancer Institute website. If you research further, you’ll find that it indicates cancer in relatively few cases, but needs to be followed by a biopsy to be sure. I’m awaiting that biopsy. See if you can find a gynecological oncologist. It’s terrible that your gynecologist didn’t elaborate or make any recommendations.

    ATYPICAL GLANDULAR CELLS

    A finding of abnormal cells in a Pap test. The glandular cells come from the inner part of the cervix or the lining of the uterus. This finding may be a sign of cancer or other serious condition, and more testing may be needed. Also called AGC.

    This is an old post. She did end up having cancer. Many different types according to her profile. She last posted a year or so ago.

    Hi! Thank you for your posts.

    I had typed out a long reply but accidentally deleted it!!

    Had Adenocarcinoma endometriod type, stage 1B and had a radical hysterectomy in 2014

    Then, breast cancer and had double mastectomies in 2021 (living flat) and decided NOT to get reconstruction.

    Then, in late November, 2023 they incidentally found lung nodule after doing a CT scan of abdomen to see why I was having Right side pain. The bronchoscopy revealed lung cancer. Had a Thoracotomy/lobectomy surgery with chest tube around Christmas. Tissue also had HPV+ results which one DR said it was uterine cancer that has returned and one thinks it's primary lung cancer.

    I'm done fighting the cancer.

    Yes, that was three different cancers ago 😜 in 2014. It turned out to be stage 1 endocervical adenocarcinoma with a radical hysterectomy. Stage 1B.

    Then I got breast cancer in 2021 and had a bilateral mastectomies. I am living flat now - I decided not to get reconstruction surgery and I'm fine with it.

    Then, in summer of 2023, I found out my uterine cancer had spread to my lungs!! After 9 years!! They also found the lung tissue was HPV + (which was shocking) after they did a Thoracotomy with lobectomy. One Dr says it's primary lung cancer and the other says it's recurrent uterine cancer…..

    Im done fighting the cancer.

    I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve gone through! I’m awaiting my biopsy and then will await the results. Praying for a good outcome! I wonder if there are others who’ve had an AGC result that turned out to be something other than cancer. That would be encouraging to hear.

    Rivestone,

    Waiting is the hardest part! Waiting for results. It took months to finally get the final results of my last lung cancer tissue. I am hoping that AGC will just be benign. I'm sure that many times it does turn out just fine. Let us know ok? Good luck to you. I am routing for you.
