30gy radiation and 2 cycles of chemo
Dear all, I am part of a clinical trial for 30gy radiation and 2 cycles of chemo cisplatin. Anyone participated such trials? If so how long ago, what was the outcome, acute and long term side effects and how long did the side effects take to clear out. Appreciate if anyone can provide insights. Thanks and god bless!

Hello, wdidg, is the clinical trial you are taking called "Deintensification Clinical Trial"?
If so we recently had someone on here go through one of these and in fact you were on the thread asking questions and commenting. This is Smitty's thread and here is the link to it...

Thanks Russ! Yes this is a “Deintensification Clinical Trial". I have seen the tread by Smitty, but I believe he went through 5 weeks of rad and chemo. There is another tread by Jowdy and he went through 3 weeks of rad, but no chemo. Thanks for checking Russ. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Well, no matter I think the basic concept is the same. I believe it is to give less intense treatment when possible to limit now and future side effects and make the treatment itself less taxing on the patient. If you want information on it just do this search "Deintensification Clinical Trial Head and Neck Cancer" and there is more information than you can shake a stick at.

There are a lot of technical results involved in the search results such as those written for medical people but you can pick and choose which you think are helpful to you.
Wishing You the Best
