Ampullary Cancer

I was just diagnosed with ampullary cancer and would like to talk to anyone who has it or is familiar with it. Also I would like to know about the Whipple procedure and what all that involves.

    66 year old male. Had Gall Bladder failure weeks ago. Nearest hospital was busy regional Trauma center. Took four days to get MRI. Gall Bladder was removed. Extremely swollen bile duct at “ampulla of Vater”. Proved cancerous. First Chemo treatment of four days completed with no nausea or ill effects😊. Scary to know it is so rare with a high early death rate tagged to it’s definition!

    I, too, am in these “shoes”. The Whipple procedure involves removing part of the closely surrounding organs- to prevent it’s well known rapid acceleration from spreading to our precious surrounding organs. My Neurosurgeon has emphasized to EAT. Eat and stay as physically active as possible, in order to have good strength to go through SO much surgery. Gain weight!
