why would the Doctor order a mri when my PSA went from 2.5 to 2.9 in 6 months?

No harm asking the doctor. BTW, is he a urologist or oncologist of some kind?

Hi,

I would imagine the doctor is looking for some evidence of Prostate cancer to show up on the MRI? Has your PSA consistently gone up over several tests?

Last year the two PSA tests were 2.2 and 2.5. This year it went up to 2.8 asnd 2.9. I am thinking it is due to an enlarge prostate due to my age (74). Yes, he wants to check to se if it is CA.

Your PSA is going up in a consistent way. I think that your urologist is prudent to look into this further by ordering an MRI.

I hope it won't disclose anything significant.
