Just got biopsy results... carcino sarcoma... I am a BC survivor, and 10 years on Tamoxifen... looks like this cancer is extremely complex and aggressive. Any recommendations for treatment in Whittier, CA? I am close to City if Hope and USC Norris cancer centers. Within PIH network. Ihave been referred to a Dr. Im in whittier, does anyone know him?

    Welcome mab23. Sorry you have to deal with this again.. Uterine carcinosarcoma is quite rare. Our member CMB had that kind of cell. There is lots of information on this page if you search that diagnosis. I think it is a malignancy of the uterine muscle, and not the endometrium. It also has an older name, MMMT you can search for. Don't read old studies. Treatment has improved greatly. There is also a page on Facebook which is very active for uterine carcinosarcoma, or MMMT. If you have other questions feel free to ask. I take it you have not had surgery yet, but a biopsy.

    Yes, just the biopsy results thus far. Sorry I have never been on this kind of chatroom/discussion board before. How do I 'search' a topic within this page?

    Also, I am looking for any Dr. recommendations in Southern California. Any ideas?

    First the searching. Above the name of this page you see Uterine Cancer in blue letters. Click on it. It takes you to the main Uterine cancer board. You should see the search option easily. Type in what you want to search.

    About doctors in Southern California, this board has been very quiet lately. There are women who are in Southern California and maybe they will respond. Other sources are your doctor, and if you are on Facebook join that MMMT or uterine sarcoma page. CMB says it is very active and they might have good referrals. I would ask your doctor though, saying you want the very best gynecological oncologist for uterine sarcoma. I went to a University Hospital. They are up to date, but you do have students tagging along. Hopefully, others will answer

    mab23, welcome. As Forherself said - you want to work with a gynecologic oncologist. If your doctor cannot refer you to one and no one here can recommend one, you can search at the link below. The Foundation for Women's Cancer is focused on gyn cancers and you can 'interview' them. As you have probably know, you have to know and love your doctor.

    Thank you both so much. I am reaching out to USC Norris. I will also meet with the local referral I was given, Dr. Samuel Im in Whittier. If anyone else has input I would welcome it. 🙏

    Hi,

    I live in L.A. My drs are at UCLA. Dr. Monica Tsai is a GYN Onc and Dr. Gottfried Konecny is a hematology oncologist. I am on an unusual regimen for my cancer, based on the mutations found in the cancer tumors. After a hysterectomy and two recurrences, I am still in remission for 5 ½ years.
