High tumor markers (CA) but clear scans.

Hello everyone,

My first post. I have elevated Carcinoembryonic Antigen or CA levels of 150. However the PET and echo are clean.

What does this mean?

We are at a loss. I am currently doing chemo of Oxaliplatin.

    How many rounds of chemo?

    What was starting CEA point before chemo?

    What do other markers look like (high/low/normal range)?

    What do inflammation markers show?

    This is only my second cycle. No side effects yet luckily. The starting CA marker was 31.

    If its only your second infusion I would wait until 4-6 infusions and CEA should start coming down. If not I would ook into more expanded bloodwork beyond SOC.

    Your hemocrit and hemogloblin are low and glucose high. I would work on those.

    MCV is good at 90. Make sure it doesn't go below that though. Research MCV and survival island. There are papers on it.

    The marker came down from 160 to 119 in two weeks!

    Feeling more positive now. You were right about waiting.

    I not sure if this is helpful, but I was diagnosed with stage 3a colon cancer in 2007. My CEA was all over the map, before treatment, during treatment and after treatment. It has been 15 years and I am still cancer free.

    Hi @pamness That is reassuring to know about CEA. Did you ever find yourself having pains occur still classic Bowel cancer symptoms) even though scans were coming back showing shrinkage??
