Im new here 78 year old newly diagnosed with prostate cancer. stage 4+ Gleason 9 5-4. Im starting radiation tomorrow for 9 weeks then chemo. Im currently on blood thinner for blood clots in both legs DVT and have heard chemo will cause blood clots. Has anyone else heard this? I haven't seen any posts addressing this. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,

Patients on chemotherapy can take other drugs if these do not have interactions with the drug(s) of the treatment. You may ask your doctor if "Anticoagulants" are safe.

Typical chemotherapy drugs in prostate cancer are; Taxotere, Jevtana, Novantrone and Emcyt. They all got common side effects but react differently in certain conditions, including reactions with different foods.

In your shoes I would consult the oncologist on the matter before starting the treatment.

Best wishes for a successful and smooth outcome.
