    My doctor prescribed 50mg
My doctor prescribed 50mg Viagra the day after catheter removal but I took a full pill of 100mg. We filled it two days later and had successful intercourse ten days after surgery.

    About the same timing
I was told to start with Viagra 2-3 weeks after surgery. I was given 50mg samples and was told to split it and try with 25mg first. She also told me to use visual stimulation to help things along.

There was more success than I had hoped for on the first time out. Took the pill on an empty stomach and 15 mintues later had some reaction. Visual stimulation and such aided to more satisfaction and orgasim. An hour later, all was back to fully relax stage. While it was not anything to have intercourse with, it was a start for me and hopeful to a full recovery over time.

I have my first PSA test on Nov 17. Surgery was Oct 6 with Da vinci and catheter came out on the 15th.

    Good luck

Dig around on this site and think you'll see ED recovery can take over a year for some people. So, there's definitely hope. Also, they should have told you prior to surgery you could lose some length as a result of removing the prostate. Both of these side effects vary from person to person.

Some of the above posts start and end in November 2010. The first one does and was edited in 2014. Anyway, my surgeon put me on sildenafil about a month prior to my RP 03/2018. He said look at it as fertilizing.

Thanks for that, yes I did see that most of the posts were very old. I know that the surgeries have come a long way since, so I was hopping that I could get some recent comments.

I have seen some posts that the length does return on its own, is that true ?

    It varies.

Or perhaps I should say that your question may be true for SOME.

The big problem behind ED after surgery seems to be atrophy of the penis. Oxygenation of the cavernous is important.

In my surgery of 2000, after withdrawing the catheter, a uro-sexologist introduced to me the ways to mitigate ED.

He recommended masturbation and the use of a pump to get the blood to circulate into the penis. Viagra has just come around. Injections were typical. The shortening of the penis could be solved during the surgery (only open RP at those times) by dissecting some muscles in the rear to extend it out.

You must be active for faster recovery.
