Hi, My dad is 71 and was diagnosed with mm. He has had nothing but bad side effects since he started his treatment He takes Bortezomib injection once a week and dexamethasone and also is on revlamid. His Potassium and Phosphate levels have been out of whack. He went from having severe constipation to severe diarrhea is short of breath and fatigued. His oncologist called and said that his platelet level was low but decided to still do his Bortezomib treatment this week and now he has like bruising spots all over him they are in his mouth and in his nose. His mouth was bleeding from it and now his stool is bloody. He was so light headed and dizzy. I called an ambulance and had him taken to our local hospital and am now waiting for a call because they have to transfer him to a hospital that can give him the proper care he needs. I am wondering lf anyone has ever had any side effects like this happen to them and if there are alternative treatments for mm. He has always been a healthy person otherwise.

Hi Greg. I’m 48 and a tumor was found on my spine that was MM. I have lost most ability to walk and been a lot. I’m just reaching out because you seem to have some good knowledge and insight from your post. What’s difficult is every person has a different it seems and every dr has their own protocol it seems. I. Just going with what they offered the Revlamid and Valcade and one other pill. Anyhow hope to hear back.

Hey, Dude!! This is Rob(aka Acebass). I managed to survive MM almost 10 yrs - some docs even consider cured. I was on Velcade/Revlamid. Despite their side effects - loss of balance, loss of sensation from the knees down, parlalysis from ankles down. Docs also said I couldn't walk again. Dude!! I do Zumba every morning. I strengthened other muscles to compensate for my broken back and that's how I regained my Uprightness. I'm not promoting anything - just reaching out to my fellow suffers and hoping to help them reclaim their lives.

Hey, Guy!!! I'm 76. Finished Chemo 2013 (Velcade-Revlamid). I have maqnaged to find two solutions to this problem. First - I had a Neurostimulator surgically applied - It works like a TENS unit, but it's inside you and controlled with a remote. The other answer is Medical Marajuana - It's legal in most states if you get a doc's prescription. Let me know what you think - Rob.

I am a 51 year old male diagnosed with MM in December. I had 2 weeks of radiation. I was put on Valcade/Dex/Revlamid treatment. After the second cycle i broke out in a rash, suspected from the Revlamid. I was given Dose Pak(steriod) to help with that. I had not noticed many other side effects. My Valcade is a shot once a week. I have also had to surgeries to reinforce bones damaged by the cancer. I do take Morphine twice a day to help with pain. The day of the Valcade shot, i do have some soreness of the injection spots and fatigue that day. But all my blood work numbers have been going in the right direction. I am in line to start the stem cell transplant procedure in the next 6 weeks.
