Any possible legal actions against a doctor or Surgeon?
Hello everyone. my name is Gaelan and I just joined, so my profile is still new. My wife and I are both cancer survivors. Mine happend as Lymphoma back 12 years ago, and I went into remission, I've had no re-occurances since then, thank God. My wife was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer 2 years ago and went through a massive surgery.
My health is fine, but my wife's is not. This post is regarding how we both feel cheated and violated by the doctors and surgeons who worked on her. You see my wife has had a long history of digestion problems. She's suffered from Gastritis for decades and she's had major IBS.
Given all this history of hers, she always bloats up and has severe cramps with most foods. Even something as basic as chicken soup will cause her to bloat. And this was before the surgery.
Now after the surgery, she bloats way way worse. In addition to that discomfort, she's unable to keep food down and usually has to puke out 1 to 2 thirds of what she ate.
And now any liquids she drinks will often send her strait to the bathroom. My wife has to live every day like this, taking constant trips to the bathroom. I thank God she's retired, no person could hold a job and live like she is right now.
To make matters worse, prior to her surgery she was taking NO medications for heart or blood pressure. However RIGHT after the surgery she got AFIB. Her AFIB got so bad that they had 'restart' her heart at one point. She's not on heart medicine. She's got to take a lot pills at different times of the day, such that she can't get a decent night's sleep, due to having to wake up and take more pills. This AFIB was so out of the blue that the doctor's involved had a meeting with their board to determine if they caused it. They decided (so conveniantly) that it was from a prior condition my wife had.
She was a smoker for many years. But she hasn't smoked since before her surgery.
My wife is 65, i'm 37. She's my world and came into my life when I was still being treated. She pushed me and helped me go back to school and get a degree. She's also a retired Nurse and has given her life into being their for people. And this all breaks my heart to see her like this.
SO given all this background information, I am begging someone out there to provide me a suggestion or advice on what actions we could take to get some justice out of how my wife has been treated. As well as what suggestions on how to make her life better.
She's lost TONS and TONS of weight , and just getting to keep the skin on her bones is a battle. A permanent feeding tube is NOT an option, she'd rather die. I would rather die to.

If you contact a legal firm
If you contact a legal firm that specializes in medical malpractice, they will have their physicians review your information and tell you if they will take the case. They aren''t going to take a case unless they think they can win.

Legal Action
Hello, I don't know where you live but in Canada it's almost impossible to sue for medical malpractice and I know because I've tried. I was diagnosed with stage 1 esophageal cancer and told I needed my esophagus removed. I didn't see an oncologist nor was I sent to the cancer centre because I didnt need chemo or radiation after the surgery. I found out two years later protocol was not followed and I had high grade dysphasia which could have been take care of with a lesser procedure called an Endoscopy Resection recommended by the pathologist who did the biopsy. I've had nothing but problems since and three major surgeries
