Peripheral Neuropathy

I finished chemo April 5th. I started having a little neuropathy right before I was finished with the chemo. It has gradually gotten worse in my thumbs and two fingers on both hands and my toes and right behind my toes are numb. My thumbs are very painful sometimes. I use Nervive cream, which helps. Does anyone know of any treatments for this? My dr. says it can take up to a year for it to go away, and sometimes it is permanent. What treatments have some of you had for this, and what works best for you?

    I saw my cancer dr. Monday. He asked me about the neuropathy. He said, "It might go away." Like he was hopeful that it would. No way to know, really.

    My numbness in hands and mostly feet went away in less than a year. I have other problems I think are related to neuropathy.

    Ask your doctor to send you to a physical therapist that specializes in cancer patients. I went and they used a TENS unit for my hands and feet which has helped to some degree.

    There is also medicine that doctors can prescribe, but I would try the physical therapy route first. Massaging your feet and hands can also help.

    Best of luck to you, this isn't an easy road to go down.
