Esophageal stent

My hubby had three stents over the last year. There are different kinds of stents and depending on what kind is a factor on how easily they are to remove. The ones my hubby had, had plastic around them so they couldnt embed into the tissue of the eshoph. They can move and cause pain. Hubbys all moved when the tumor shrunk. Radiation caused some burns in the esoph and the stent irritated it also. I also found out that radiation treatments can reflect off the stent and cause more burn in the eshoph. In some ways thats good because it gives a extra zap to tumor, but can widen the burn effect of esoph.

Over the last year the stent did help with eating for hubby, but when tumor started shrinking and the stent started moving it was a pain sometimes. Everyone is different. Stents have their good points and bad points.

My brother went to dr. today for results of cat scan and the doctor said all the effects my brother feels is from the chemo that the tumor has shrunk 2 cm. from the outside going in and all his blood works came back fine.
So my brother took his 9th round of chemo today.
I guess the dr. didn't see any sign that the stent was causing the pain. (This I am not sure about)
My brother is just praising God for the good news that there is no sign of spreading and the tumor is shrinking. Thank you to all who has added him to your prayer list.
