Hello - does anybody have a score of 25 and above and declined chemo? My score is 26 and declining chemo. My oncologist suggests chemo since that is the cutoff. I would appreciate it if anyone can share experience. thank you

    I have IDC, stage 1. 7mm tumor, no node involvement. ER & HR positive, Her2 negative and lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy. I had DCIS in 2013 on opposite breast with lumpectomy only - no further treatment - they suggested radiation and tamoxifen, then.

    I was told to do radiation & chemo, which I refused. I was prescribed anastrozole, which I took for one month and felt like crap, so I stopped that too.

    I feel like the treatments are cancer causing and just do not feel comfortable taking the inhibitors or rads and chemo.

    I am waiting on my oconotype. The breast surgeon predicts it will be low. I don't know the number that determines if you need chemo but I do not want chemo. My body would not eliminate it and I am on dialysis. The dialysis machine would eliminate a portion but I do not know how much.

    Maybe due to your health concerns, they won't recommend it.

    so, until that day comes, we are still being offered crude therapies to treat BC.

    That is very interesting. I have read that BC stem cells are constantly mutating and therefore, that is why it has been difficult to treat it with gene therapy. There are many cancer cells and it is not just one type that is the mutant.

    So, is that what the Japanese are doing? Controlling the proliferation and growth rather than replacing the mutant gene?

    I see my Oncologist on Thursday and he will come up with something for the longterm, something similar to Tomoxefin. I do clot during dialysis so I am given fast-acting Herparin. I am pretty sure I won't be getting Tomoxifen as it clots the blood, from what I understand. When I figure out what he wants to do about that, I will let you know. Thanks!

    I had a Mammaprint and my score is a 29. They are recommending 4 A/C Treatments and 12 of T. Followed by 21 Radiation treatments and the 5 yr pill. I was a stage 2, 4cm tumor, lymph nodes and margins clear. I am declining chemotherapy. I will do the Radiation and pill but I feel the chemotherapy is just too much. I definitely understand how you feel. I can honestly say that I am blessed to have friends and family who support my decision.

    Hi Hopemuch,

    I am glad you are supported. I feel chemo is way overkill for no node involvement. If there was node involvement it would be a different story. I also declined radiation. I feel that both those therapies are toxic and potentially cause cancer years later. Everyone has their own path. Good luck

    I agree and would have declined Chemo even if the numbers were in the range they said would prompt it. That is a personal decision and we are all able to make up our own minds and treatment. The pill I have not started yet but I will give it a try. He said he has two more types I could try if this one does no agree with me. I am willing to try on the pill but told him no matter what my score was, I would not be putting chemo in my body because there is no way to get rid of it, I stopped urinating about 6 months ago. Yes, the dialysis machine can get rid of some of it but I think the toxcity of the chemo would put me 6 feet under in no time. I'll pass on that.
