Newly diagnosed: extensive peritoneal carcinometasis - how to break news
Hello, My 59yr old mom who was active and fit was suddenly experiencing massive ascites two days back and doctors diagnosed it to be extensive peritoneal carcinometasis. Due to the extent of spread, surgery is unlikely and chemo may be the only way. I am shattered but was wondering how to break the news and prepare our family for the hard times ahead?
Plus, It would be really helpful to hear from experiences of people who have gone through peritoneal cancer.
For all those people who are battling all forms of this monster - stay strong!

Be transparent, when possible…
It's been a month since your post, so by now I assumed you've already told family the news and expectations. Remember, it's not your job to make everyone else feel good or how to cope with this unwelcomed journey. Take care of your mom and your needs. Meditate and give yourself needed space to cope. Prayers going up for you & your mom.
