Since my double mastectomy on June 1st I have been experiencing pains in my pelvis, buttocks, and upper thighs - it is not extremely painful but ever present aching. Advil, etc. do not seem to help - my scans prior to surgery were okay so I tend to believe this is something related to the surgery or post-radiation treatments - anyone else experience this? It reminds me of some people's description of fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is a disease with many symptoms and so different for each and everyone. This disease is a result of trauma to the body, mind or soul. Doctor's are just learning about this disease. My pain specialist had traveled the world trying to gain some understanding of the pain that humans have to suffer. Remember it must be difficult for doctors to deal with everything cancer brings. They are treating on a cellular leve. It took me over 2 years to be diagnosed along with many other diseases. I know what it is like to live in agony. I refused to suffer so I kept harping on the things that ailed me. Eventually with time and a few doctors my concerns were addressed after many trial medications. Finally I had to start doing things for myself holistically and physically. Medication had far to many other sideaffects for me and exercise definitely helps me to keep mobile and cope with all I have to.
Read my speach in the Gallery Living Well With Cancer. Will give you a better Idea where I have been and how far I have come.

    Hi Negative 3,

    Hi Negative 3,

I finished 30 sessions of radiation on April 27th this year.  It made me very tired toward the end and yes the skin irritation was painful.  Both are normal and expected side effects.  I took naps and tested when I needed to.  To be honest, I literally fell asleep sitting up sometimes due to radiation fatigue. In terms of the skin, I used Miaderm and Eucerin lotions which were recommended to me by the radiologist.  The fatigue will lessen and your skin will slowly heal after the radiation ends.  It's September and you can still see the dark outline on my chest from the radiation but it is getting lighter as time passes.  I'm dealing with fatigue still but I think this is more related to my estrogen being suppresssed as the breast cancer is estrogen driven.  Wishing you well.
