NED
Hello all - I have hesitated to post this for a bit, but saw my surgeon at the end of April for an exam prior to scheduled surgery to remove what was left of my tumor following chemo and chemo radiation. Did the exam and flex sigmoidoscopy and he said that I had a "complete clinical response" and that the tumor appeared to no longer be there. He recommended no surgery and to take a wait and see approach with "very aggressive" follow up strategy over the next two years.
Fast forward to today and I had a colonoscopy with same surgeon. First one since being diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer last August after my first colonoscopy at 49. I was scared to find out if everything still looked good. You know, since the last time I had one, it started me down this cancer journey.
Anyhow, all that to say that everything went perfect this morning. Still NED.
Scheduled to see my surgeon again in three months after an MRI, oncologist in Sept after CT scan and continuing to pray every day that the cancer stays away.
I will still stop in here from time to time and see how everyone is doing. I can't thank you enough for allowing me to read here, learn A LOT from you and definitely not feel so darn alone in all of this.
Much love,
Jenn
