    MRI

    Good Morning,

I am sceduled for MRI next week. I am very concerned about the contrast. Can you please let me know about your experience and also if I ask the order without using the contrast. Also I am allergic to CT scan contrast. I am nervous and wondering if I am allergic to MRI contrast as well. I just don't feel comfortable about the contrast and the toxicity it may cause.
    Regards to all,

    Contrast

I can't speak to toxicity but I had a CT with contrast and it was warm and I could feel it throughout my chest (and freaked me out a little).  The MRI contrast they used was cool and I only felt it in my arm on the initial flow...it was maybe 2 seconds that I felt it.  I am not allergic to either.  I know it's  not great for your kidneys so they check GRB and creatinine before they will allow it.  But I believe they use contrast because it gives them a much better view of what's going on.  I would suggest talking to your doc about why it's necessary and what your concerns are.

I have never heard of GRB

The doctor usually checks GFR for Kicney function.
