Thoughts on NSAID's ?

Hello 

      So with my dad's biopsy not until friday I been deep into research and came across NSAID's used to help with cancer . Some of the research seems to be good some bad so I wondered what everyone here thinks about them ? My dad recently went off blood thinners so we been thinking about trying aspirin or Ibuprofen . At this moment he does take cimetidine and his cancer has yet to spread ( knock on wood ) I don't know if cimetidine is the reason but it for sure isn't hurting so looking to see if there is more we can do .

    speaking mainly about aspirin and ibuprofen found some research that says both can decrease tumor growth but some research says it can make it worse also .

    If you go the aspirin  route

    If you go the aspirin  route maybe get the coated kind.  Where ever the uncoated type hits creates a surface ulcer kind of thing.  I've heard it referred as eating your gut lining.

    Aspirin does have it benefits for sure with COX1 and COX2.

    I started the baby aspirin,

    I started the baby aspirin, silver multi-vitamin, and statin, all shortly after the OD in Sep. '07 and surgery that Oct. I had the 2 liver recurrances, but the studies I read suggested that the baby aspirin had to be taken for several years before you gain any protective effect against some cancers, recurrance, and severity of the regrowth. My recurrances were slow enough that 2+ years passed after each surgery, before they were clear and sizable enough to get after. Whether the baby aspirin had a role in my progression, or the state of NED that has followed is , of course debatable, and requires long studies.  I changed few other long-term habits, drinking beer weekly, eating an average diet, and working or working out sporadically. I knew that I had what I call an ''iron gut'', meaning I don't suffer many gastric issues, though I did have a detected ulcerated area that they treated for with the H. Pylori virus being present, which could have possibly become gastric cancer, some years back, around the last liver resection. At 63 now, I'll be taking the coated baby aspirin until they tell me not to, mid-seventies is what I read. It is established to lessen heart attack risk and stroke risk for many, so there is also that. I read that only aspirin, among the Nsaids has the heart-protective effects, so take that for what it's worth. If your pop can handle it, I'd say it was worth trying, based on my experience.........................................Dave
