Cologuard Thoughts on a positive finding?

Colonoscopies are uncomfortable but can give comfort.

My friend had the Cologuard 2 years ago. It was negative. Last Friday via a colonoscopy she was diagnosed with rectal cancer. So, the questions are did it miss the cancer?  Was it interpreted wrong?  The cancer she has did it just nto pick up her specific mutation. The doctor told her she has had the cancer for at least 10 years. It was a 8 cm tumor.  

The end result is colonguard  or may not detect colon cancer.   It does not pick up polyps which are removed during a colonoscopy to prevent colon cancer. If you want to prevent colon cancer and almost 100% rule it in or out you have to get a colonoscopy.

My doctor also told me that my rectal cancer was there for about 6-7 years.

It can have some results that aren't accurate.  If you have one that is positive for possible colorectal abnormal cells, it would be best to follow up with a regular colonoscopy just to make sure.  The prep is the worst part of the procedure, and the procedure itself is done very quickly and you are completely under so you won't notice anything.  Wishing you the best.

It is best to ask what medication they use during a colonoscopy. Allot of places use Propofol, but the rural hospital I had my colonoscopies, used a sedative, which never really worked on me, so I was awake - albeit drowsy, throughout the whole procedure. Enough that I could feel what was going on, and even see the screen.

Yes, I had the colonoscopy 11/14/19 and surgery 11/20/19.

Did he have a syptoms ? Or just a routine check up at stage4 

I try to give a lot info on my profile so others might be able to compare. My dad had 3 years before his diagnosis a colonoscopy. The cancer was there but the mucosa looked normal. It was a negative colonoscopy, well done, well prepared. But his nerve got infiltrated by the tumor which caused the little stingy pains. But there was nothing. Now we know a lot more. Months before my dads diagnosis he had the typical symptoms of left sided coolon cancer. The symptoms were obvious but if you basically just had a colonoscopy no one even the doctors did not think of cancer until the diagnosis came. Between his 2 colonoscopy he received meds against MS that diminished his immune cells which only accelerated the growth. In all a case out of million where cancer is even more unpredictable.

Yes probably. Most of the time you want to decrease the immune system response so the immune system does not attack the CNS. Unfortunately if your immune system is diminished it also decreases the activity to fight mutated cells. I think I read that even longer time on steroids might do it. So if you are immunocompromised you do have a higher risk. Transplant patients have the same problem unfortunately. 

Unfortunately at this time a drug against T cells was the best option, we did not expect cancer cells to be there and now doctors are running out of options. Maybe if the comonoscopy was done a year later while my dad was immunocompromised things would be different but these thoughts are useless.
