Lower Ab pain after surgery
Hello,
My father had an esophagectomy for Stage 1 cancer 1 1/2 years ago. Recently he has been getting a sharp pain in his lower right abdomen. It only last for a few seconds and comes and goes throughout the day. Of course he's worried cancer has returned and next scans aren't for 3 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this?
thank you!!

I have abdominal pain frequently after surgery
Hi Sasha,
I had my Ivor Lewis surgery a little over 11 years ago and I have abdomial pain frequently, particularly after eating. Like your husband, at first I was concerned that it may be an inflamed lympth node and that cancer had returned. Over the years I have gotten used to periodic abdominal pain, particularly after eating. I have learned to be patient and know that it will resolve with time. The first two or three years after surgery are always an anxious time and of course we never get used to the "scanxiety" that goes with waiting for scan results.
Best Regards,
Paul

Thank you Paul for your response. I think my dad feels better knowing it's common to have pain once in awhile.
Thanks again for your quick response!
