Oropharyngeal tumor

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Hello 

im new on here and im Having a biopsy sept 9 to have part of my tumor in my throat to be tested for cancer and it’s a oropharyngeal tumor left side of my throat growing inside of my throat and appeared 41 days after having a full tonsillectomy and adenoids removed cause  I had stones on my tonsils that never went away everything was good there no cancer but it growing fast it’s growing way above where your tonsils would be and I was wondering if anyone has had one of these I’m a non smoker and I don’t drink either .was wondering if anyone has had this and what your treatment was for it .i have had other cancer in the past I’ve had childhood brain tumor breast cancer and colon cancer.have had a fair share of Other cancer I’m just hoping this isn’t cancer but for how fast growing it is and problems it’s causing I’m afraid it’s cancer.

 

But I’d love to hear from you.

    Certainly it's always best to wait for the testing / biopsy - before you get too concerned.

    (But, it's tough not to worry).

    Try to stay as calm as possible, you may be fine - and you (like all the others on here) will deal with whatever comes your way!

    Well My Goodness

    Young lady you certainly have had more than your share of cancer that's for sure. I had throat cancer and it seems the standard treatment is 35 rads and chemo beginning middle and at the end. I actually think most throat cancers are slow-growing. But wait you did not get the biopsy results yet. The saying on here is "it's not cancer till they say it's cancer". So here's prayers your way that it is in fact not cancer, stay strong, keep us posted-Take Care-God Bless-Russ

    If you recently had surgery in that locale then...

    A more reasonable guess would be an abscess or cyst or something of that nature caused by the trauma of the surgery.  As Russ suggests, tumors don't grow quickly.  So my money is on something related to your procedure.  Head and neck cancer is pretty rare, in general...

    Hi Brandon,

    I realize your post was weeks ago, but I would like to respond--- I have had 6 Recurrent tumors, Invasive SqCC, and I can tell you guys First Hand that a few of mine were definitely Fast Growing.  

    I have been fighting  HNSCC since 2017, and you can look at my profile to see my extensive surgical history... Mine came back even After radiation treatments and right now, I'm in pain with another one.

     I am fed up with it.

    I weigh 73.4 pounds...100% dependent on feeding tube... This new one has Ulcerated, is also infected and bleeds easily. 

     Suppose to see my surgeon soon,  but because I have an esophageal dilation next Friday, I am in quarantine ( to stay safe) until my procedure.

     

    But yes, a few of my tumors have been fast growing, usually requiring 2 surgeries, and still had Positive Margins.

    A good friend of mine is dying from metastasized HNSCC.  He is going into Hospice very soon. I am 55, he is 59. They are giving him up, nothing more can be done. He is 6'2", and 151 pounds.

    Since I saw you post on a topic. I know we PM'd already but it has been a while. I am so sorry you are still dealing with tumors and this absolutely evil disease. My heart goes out to you and your friend and I am going to do the only thing I have the ability to do in this situation and that is pray for you.
