    When you see the Dr. on Monday- give him/her all the facts, including your quality of life now. Like you, half my voice box has been paralyzed since I was 13- and Colds, for instance, hit me like a ton of bricks. Night sweats and the weight loss are relevant signs your Dr. should definitely be concerned about, even if he/she ho-hums everything else. I would request a 2nd opinion from your PCP to see another ENT. No way that should be denied.

    The half paralyzed voice box

    The half paralyzed voice box scares me. I keep thinking what if the other half goes while I am sleeping.  i never realized how much vocal cords did. I was a Bio major, you think I would have known. ?.  Did you try any of the procedures to get it working?  I keep seeing there are some things to help the symptoms from it.  I was surprised that my Primary Dr messaged me tonight in a holiday weekend. She said the University of RocHester ENT practice she did an urgent referral to called for records so hopefully I'll hear from them soon. Has anyone Had any experience with second opinions and how long they usually take to get back to people?  I am relieved they are close by and supposed to be pretty good and will send me elsewhere if need be. But for now they are only an hour away from me so I won't have to fly or stay in hotels. I have been worried about traveling. Thank you for the advice!  I am definitely gonna lay it all out on the table at my ENT appointment. Most likely it will involve crying since it seems thats whatbhappena when I talk to nurses and doctors about it and my frustrations.

    to hear the U of Rochester is getting involved quickly. Please keep us posted.

    Dashboard did a number of my windpipe when I was 13, AC. Lucky just to have half my voice box working. My Chicago ENT was one of the best in the world, and made like the nerve damage was/is unrepairable. But thanks for the concern.

    My Current ENT (definitely

    My Current ENT (definitely not the best in the world- though he was "the guy" to see for TMJ according to everyone) said the vocal cord surgeries werent something he did. He didnt sound like they were a promising thing when I asked. It was a premature question to ask him I guess. Hopefully tomorrow I will get at least some Sort of direction on things.
